 The Operating Room located on the 5th floor of the hospital has been designed to offer our patients the most modern technology with specialized digital equipments that provide the highest quality in functions and images so our team of surgeons, anesthesiologists, technicians and teaching supervisors, nurses, technicians in sterilization, biomedical and computer engineers, clerks, orderlies and highly qualified and accredited secretaries may assist the patient’s medical and surgical problems.
Surgical patients at Punta Pacifica Hospital have marked a low rate of infections, because the surgical unit of this new hospital has the most modern infrastructure in the region. It offers surgeons and their patients many unseen details, which cause a lower rate of infections and patient safety, such as:
* Air conditioning used only for the operating rooms: it prevents infections that may spread to other areas.
* Positive pressure in the surgery room (as seen in aircrafts), that slows down the entry of air from the corridors into the operating room.
* Surgical pause, which before each procedure, gives the patient’s name, whether it have allergies, information about the area to be operated and the consent of operation by the patient to the surgeon giving permission to perform surgery.
* The operating rooms are equipped with HEPA air filters (High Efficiency Particulate) with a 99.7% effectiveness allowing filtration of the air and with laminar flow over each surgical table, reducing the amount of pollutants, thus minimizing infections in surgical patients.
All four intelligent operating rooms are equipped with digital instruments, cameras, flat high-definition monitors, sophisticated microscopes with zoom function manually or pedal operated, different types of lasers, endoscopes and a more sophisticated range of instruments to be used in different surgeries, from a minimally invasive approach to the most complicated made at the surgical unit of Punta Pacifica Hospital.
