Clinical Laboratory and Blood Bank

In this highly technological area, health care requires the interaction of various medical disciplines in which the laboratory provides an additional tool to prevent, monitor and heal an illness ensuring accurate, fast and safe results through a highly qualified professional equipment, outstanding technology, quality control systems that guarantees internal and external reliability thereof.

Located at the ground floor of the hospital, the clinical laboratory performs a wide range of routine and specialized tests, including female and male hormones. We also make the mother's prenatal screening tests such as: the marker of the first quarter, double and triple marker in the second quarter, which allows the physician to have an early diagnosis of congenital abnormalities such as Down syndrome, bifida spine and trisomy 18.

In addition to routine examinations, we perform exams such as tumor markers (CEA, CA-125, CA-15.3, CA-19.9), viral markers (Dengue, Mononucleosis, Influenza virus, respiratory syncytial virus, Herpes I and II, among others), thrombophilia testing (Protein C, Protein S, von Willebrand factor, Lupus Anticoagulant, Anticardiolipin, Factor V Leiden), coagulation factors, growth factors (IGF-1, IGF-BP3, growth hormone) and many other evidence of diagnostic utility.

We perform urine tests to detect drugs such as cocaine, marijuana, opiates, amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, etc. We also provide sample collection services directly at the company where you want these tests done to your employees.

The Blood Bank at Punta Pacifica Hospital is governed by the rules of the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) and the laws of the Republic of Panama in its procedures.
Our staff is trained in hematology and immune aphaeresis to provide a better service and advice to our donors and patients.
